Defy it! Age backwards!
How? Exercise.
It’s that simple. There is indisputable evidence that exercise has anti-aging benefits, period. What you may not realize is that it doesn’t hours every day in a gym to see benefits.
Researchers at Canada’s McMaster University Medical Center in Ontario have discovered that it only takes working out 2-3 times a week to develop younger looking skin. The lead author of the study noted that after 3 months of moderate endurance exercise 2-3 times a week, “At the microscopic level, participants skin was about 20 years younger.”
Endurance activities include elliptical machines, treadmills, biking, running, even dancing or a dance style class. Just 30-45 minutes 2-3 times a week can result in benefits.
Not only does endurance exercise provide physiological benefits, working up a sweat also dilates pores expelling trapped oils and dirt. Note: Thoroughly cleansing your skin after exercise is crucial to avoid clogged pores as your skin cools down and pores close.
Exercise also reduces inflammation throughout the body, prevents free radical damage and helps regulate skin-significant hormones.
As we age, collagen producing cells, called fibroblasts, decrease and production slows down. To help keep your collagen production active, delivering nutrients to the skin helps fibroblasts work more efficiently, resulting in younger looking skin.
During exercise, the tiny arteries found in your skin open, this allows more blood to reach the skin’s surface. Blood delivers nutrients to repair environmental damage from pollutants and the sun. Nutrients fuel skin’s collagen production, which is necessary in combating wrinkles.
