Antioxidants provide extra protection to, not only our skin, but our entire body by acting as guardians against free radicals. Free radicals damage our cells from various sources, such as emotional stress, sun exposure (even in winter) and other stresses on our bodies, such as over-exercising. Think about it this way, what happens to your car or bicycle when it rusts? Or the paint fades due to too much sun exposure? It oxidizes.
We definitely don’t want that to happen to our skin!

Antioxidant: a molecule that inhibits the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction involving the loss of electrons or an increase in oxidation state. Oxidation reactions can produce free radicals. In turn, these radicals can start chain reactions.
Free Radicals: are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons and can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules.
