Food IS Fuel, Vroom Vroom

YOU TRULY ARE WHAT YOU EAT!  Food IS Fuel.

Drinking lots of water and loading up on the vitamins and antioxidants in fruits and veggies will help you look & feel youthful, refreshed, recharged, and energized.

I hear many people subscribe to the 80/20 plan. They make healthy choices 80% of the time and leave 20% for indulgences.  This works well for those who adhere to a plan during the week and consider weekends ‘free’.  I prefer to use a 90/10 strategy. 90% healthy choices, 10% whatever my heart desires.  I find that, as I am getting older, this works better for me.  As we age, it’s easier to put on weight and harder to lose it.  The 90/10 strategy helps me avoid unwanted pounds and still works out well on weekends. I make good choices, for instance, at breakfast & lunch and dinnertime is open.  The key is to avoid a feeling of lack, it’s hard to stick to anything if you feel deprived of a joy.
What is a healthy choice? Aah, calories and nutritional needs can change as we age and this blog will address our many choices through additional posts and articles.  It’s hard to get everything you need from the foods you eat, that’s why I use a superfood system to supplement my healthy aging and weight goals. I addition, I make sure that I incorporate the foods proven to support a youthful & healthy lifestyle into my daily choices.

Here’s a list of some of my favorites:

Fruits:  Blueberries, Raspberries, Oranges, Bananas, Watermelon

Vegetables: Sweet Potatoes, Pumpkin, Squash, Carrots, Tomatoes, Avocado, Broccoli, Cucumber

Leafy Greens:  Spinach, Kale, Lettuces

Fats: Olive Oil

Sweetener:  Honey

Almond Milk

Grains:  Whole Wheat, Whole Oats/Oatmeal, Brown Rice,Whole Rye, Whole Wheat CousCous, Quinoa

Protein:  Wild Caught Salmon & Tuna
